Sree Ramayanam is a sacred text written by Sage Valmiki and most revered by all Indians. It is a known fact that the story of Rama is enacted in Thailand and nearby islands on a daily basis. There they call it Ramakirthi instead of Sree Ramayanam.A slight variation is there in the prounounciation of the main characters except the great Lord Rama. For example Lakshmana is called Laksa, Bharatha is called Bhirut, Shatrugna is called Sutru. They call Vibhisana as Bhibhek and Ravana as Raban. Lord Hanuman is called Hanuma by them.

An interesting facet of how our Sree Ramayanam finds a place in Thailand shows the universality of our ancient culture .If you go further deep into the subject, we can easily see that countries such as Cambodia,Thailand and neighbouring countries were following Hindu religion before being converted either into Islamic or Buddhist Nations.

This statement is strengthened when we examine the world famous Angkor Vat temple complex which was originally built by King Suryavarman and Vikramavarman. The names of these kings very clearly indicate that they were of Indian origin.

If we study Sree Ramayanam in it’ depth the name of it’s central character Rama is not confined to India alone. In Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam the omnipresence and omnipotence of the Lord God is established. This fact interested me and I found to my joy that the name of Rama is truly omnipresent.

To prove this I found His name in the most Islamic place called Ramallah situated in Palestine. Wonder of wonders, Muslims and Arabs have named their most sacred month as Ramadan and also named their most sacred festival Ramzan. If we go to old Persia a very common name in their community is Rustomfram. Coming back to Mughal India we are surprised to see that the Great Akbar’s teacher was none other than  Byramkhan.

Coming to the Christian world,I found Him in RAMbo—– the most famous military war veteran.I  also found Him in BertRAM, a common christian name in U.S. and U.K..I also found Him in kRAMer another name common in Germany.

In the computer world, the Lord exists as RAM——–Random Access Memory

In the animal world I found Him in RAM (pottelu in Telugu)

He carries tiny tots going by the name pRAM(perambulator)

In the world of Literature, He exists as dRAMa.

This is how in my limited research in the world around us, I found Lord Ram being omnipresent .This proves in another way that Sree Ramayanam lives today and will live as long as man and beast are existant on our Earth.
